Wide Angle With Reflection – Ships in Ushuaia, Argentina

Several ships at the main pier in Ushuaia, Argentina
Standing on the balcony outside our cabin on the National Geographic Explorer after finishing a trip to Antarctica, I beheld this sight of two exploration vessels and a large cargo ship. I love the reflection off the ship on the left, and the contrast in all the different ships. People on the pier provide a sense of scale as well.

Odd Angles and Neon Lights – Giant Pez Dispensers

A toy store in New York City offering giant Pez dispensers
One of my photographic techniques is what I call “walk-by shooting”, where I take photos of things in passing without looking through the viewfinder, kind of shooting from the hip or at least the end of my dangling arm. Some of the time the shot is crooked, but it produces some fascinating angles.

Motion Blur and Low Light at a Fish Farm

A cobia at a fish farm
This image was taken earlier this week during a visit to a new fish farm that has started operation just down the street from where I live. The conditions were challenging – low light, reflection off the water’s surface, and a fast moving fish. Interesting resulting effect.
