Fall Foliage – Tokyo Temple with HDR

Fall foliage on the grounds of the Meiji Temple in Tokyo (HDR)
At the suggestion of a friend in the 3D graphics business (thanks Neil!) I experiment with High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography a few years ago while shooting in Tokyo. For HDR, which is now a feature in the latest iPhone operating system, you take several identically positioned photos with different exposures to encompass detail in highlights, detail in shadows, and detail in midtones, and HDR software munges it all together for you to create a version of the image with greater dynamic range. Above is one of my first attempts at HDR, from the grounds of the Meiji Temple in Tokyo.
